Moving to San Antonio with children may seem daunting, as you want them to be able to receive the best education possible. If you are not knowledgeable about the area, knowing which school to place your child in and which neighborhood to move to can be difficult. However, All My Sons San Antonio movers want to ease your mind, so you can rest assured that San Antonio teachers are among some of the best in the nation, and they are receiving awards to prove it.

Just this morning, Laura Servin, an eighth-grade math teacher at Whittier Middle School, was presented with the prestigious Milken prize in front of fellow colleagues and students.

The Milken prize is known as the “Oscars of teaching” and only 40 educators win it nationwide annually.

San Antonio movers were thrilled about the announcement, as we get many families inquiring about which schools are the best. The truth is, San Antonio teachers share a passion for teaching that is shown far and wide, earning the city the recognition of the Milken prize.

The last time a San Antonio teacher won the Milken prize was in 2008, when kindergarten teacher Joanna Bacon at West Avenue Elementary School was surprised with the award.

Let our San Antonio movers handle the packing and unpacking while you find the perfect San Antonio teachers for your children’s education. Our movers can either help with the heavy lifting and transport, or completely pack all of your belongings straight from your closets and dresser drawers for a full-service move to San Antonio.

enchanted-rock-timothyjThe Texas Hill Country consists of 25 counties in South and Central Texas. It is nestled between the booming metroplexes of San Antonio to the West and Austin to the South. The Hill country is a plateau that ranges from 1000 to 2500 ft elev. It’s weather is typically hot, but precipitation can vary wildly. In one year Fredericksburg had 11 inches of rain, the next it had over 40. Originally home to the Apache and Comanche tribes, the region began to see large scale European settlement in the mid 1800s. Settlers from many different places came to the region and thrived, leading to a vibrant cultural mix. A perfect example is Tejano music which developed as traditional Mexican musicians were introduced to the accordion by German immigrants.

peach_saladHill country is famous for it’s cuisine. It is a unique mash-up of Polish, German, Mexican and native Texas flavors not to be found anywhere else. A great example isTexas Peaches and Shrimp. Food writer Julia Celeste describes it this way “It may be hard to wrap your head around it when you hear the combination—hunks of lightly char-grilled wild-caught Texas shrimp and slightly charred ripe Fredericksburg peaches marinated in chile powder, jalapeño and herbs, with a pour-over of warm ginger-infused heavy cream—but it’s layer-upon-layer of fresh flavor”. The Hill country is also the center of Texas’ wine country.

natural-bridge-cavern-Driss&MarionDue to it’s geology and several large rivers including the Texas/Colorado that flow through the area, Hill Country has some of the most amazing caves in the world. The Natural Bridges Cavern is the largest commercial cave in the U.S. The facility that has been developed here includes tours of developed caves, supervised wild caving and outdoor activities like a gigantic maze and the canopy challenge where you can climb and rappel safely.

The Hill Country is one of the fastest growing regions in America. Anchored by Austin and San Antonio, communities like New Braunfelsand Comal are growing quickly. If you’re interested in moving to this diverse growing region call your friends in the moving business All My Sons Moving & Storage.

Universal City’s Veterans Day parade.

Nearly a century ago, a trio of San Antonio doctors bought land in what would eventually become Universal City. While it stayed small for decades, the relocation of Air Force Training Command to Randolph Field deposited a number of offices and their families in Universal City.

Since the initial push, growth has come slowly enough for the city to develop a rich, unique culture. For instance, those currently in Texas know how rare snow is. Though often entire years go by without even one snowfall, Universal City sees snow every year. The city hosts the Snow Fest event, with carnival rides, events, and a place for kids to play in manufactured snow. Another event that Universal City is proud to host is the oldest continuous Veterans’ day parade. With nearly the whole city getting involved, it’s a great event to be part of.

Moving to Universal City will leave you surrounded by good, patriotic people and a great environment. When you get there, you take up a pen. The book of Universal City is far from written, and your contribution continues a beautiful story where you are the star.

On Wednesday, June 18th, at 6 pm the Spurs will begin their championship parade on the River Walk. The Spurs will move through the River Walk area, and then take the party back to the Alamodome for a special ceremony at 9 pm.

The Spurs won their fifth championship, defeating the Miami Heat in five games and cementing themselves as one of the NBA’s all-time best franchises. The face of the organization, Tim Duncan, has been apart of all five championship teams and was key in moving the Spurs from a team at the bottom of the barrel to now a basketball super power.

This celebration commemorating the 2014 Championship will be one for the entire community. It will be a time for the city of San Antonio to come together and celebrate all the Spurs have accomplished for this community.

All My Sons is proud to be a part of this great city, and is proud to share in the celebration. We hope San Antonio will continue to move on to do great things! Come out and support our boys on Wednesday, Go Spurs Go!

Quick thinking of local San Antonio firefighters prevented unfortunate events from turning tragic yesterday. Your San Antonio professional movers are happy to learn that neither the flight crew nor the patient was injured during the emergency landing. The patient onboard the disabled helicopter was promptly flown to the San Antonio Military Medical Center onboard a second chopper following the emergency mattress pad landing.
